VANCOUVER, Wash. -- A young man who nearly lost his life in a brutal attack spoke out for the first time Monday in an exclusive interview with KGW.
Vancouver's Tyler Burton was in Chico, Calif. to play football and study at Shasta College. But last October, he was punched in the face during a fight.
His head hit the pavement so hard his brain began to bleed and swell.
Doctor's were able to save his life but there was severe damage.
Now Burton is finally home after many months of hospital care and continued physical therapy.
He is using his football instincts to learn to walk again.
“He's coaching me to walk again, which sounds kind of funny - coaching me how to walk,” said Burton.
Doctor's have described Burton's recovery as "miraculous".
