VANCOUVER -- The Skamania Lodge at Stevenson is opening a zip line ride next week that gives visitors a thrilling two-hour tour through a canopy of Douglas fir trees.
Reporters were given a preview of the seven "zips" that range from 100 to 900 feet long and descend toward the Columbia River.
The Columbian reports it's the only operating zip line in southwest Washington.
In 2008 a Washougal man briefly opened a zip line on his farm in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area without obtaining permits. A legal battle is ongoing.
