RANDLE, Wash. -- Rescue crews near Randle, Washington found a mushroom picker Tuesday who had been missing since Sunday morning.

Dapeng Yang, of Tacoma, was found walking along a forest service road near a base camp that had been set up by searchers.  The 79-year-old man was exhausted and showing signs of dehydration, but otherwise doing well, authorities said.

“This is an incredible ending. Neither this mans’ family nor our search and rescue team gave up hope," said Lewis County Sheriff Steve Mansfield. "Our teams worked tirelessly for the last 48 hours in hopes of finding this man alive. We are very pleased that the mission turned out in such a positive manner."

Yang had gotten separated from his family Sunday morning near Strawberry Mountain in Lewis County.  Deputies said he had a backpack with water in it, but wasn't prepared for an overnight stay.

More than 30 people helped in the search.
