MEDFORD, Ore. -- Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters says he's embarrassed a bank robber was able to get out of his jail.

Authorities said Wednesday they're still looking for 42-year-old Bradley William Monical.

Winters said Monical stood on the shoulders of another inmate Monday, removed part of a roof covering and leaped into a tree.

The Medford Mail Tribune (http://bit.ly/UX6fER) reports the tree, and several nearby, have been cut down, and the roof material is being replaced.

After an internal review, Winters vows, there won't be another escape on his watch.

Monical was awaiting trial for an Ashland bank robbery.

He'd been convicted for a bank robbery in Coos Bay. Jail guards there suspected he was trying to escape when they found a homemade rope concealed around his chest.
