ALBANY, Ore. -- Interstate 5 southbound was closed about 3 miles north of Albany for several hours Thursday, after a 20-car pileup in the snow, transportation officials said.

A second pileup closed closed I-5 northbound, about 8 miles south of Albany for a couple hours.

Crews were hoping to have the southbound crash scene entirely cleared by 6 p.m.

It was a long and frustrating wait for many drivers.

”It’s ridiculous. I took two naps already," said Cody Rodrigues, who was struck in traffic for hours.

”I’m frustrated because we reserved a hotel, we reserved a whole trip for a week and now we are stuck in traffic and we probably will just go back home right now," another driver told KGW.
