On March 28, 1964, a magnitude 9.2 quake hit south-central Alaska. The resulting tsunami took lives from Alaska to California.

The National Weather Service Pacific Tsunami Warning Center created this animation of what the Good Friday tsunami may have looked like as it raced south from Prince William Sound.
