MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A Central Point man faces a seven-year prison sentence for setting a fire in his ex-girlfriend's home that killed her pet rabbit.

The Mail Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/19pw7tL ) a Jackson County jury convicted 27-year-old Darryl Wayne Smith on Thursday of burglary, arson and animal abuse.

Prosecutors say Smith set the fire in January 2012 to kill the rabbit, hoping to cause his ex-girlfriend to suffer.
