CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- Authorities say a commercial truck driver suffered some kind of medical problem before crashing in Millersburg.
Sgt. Kevin Guilford of the Linn County Sheriff's Office says the 54-year-old Steven Ames from Salem had no visible injuries after the crash, but it remains unclear if the impact or a health problem caused his death.
The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports Ames' 2000 Mack tractor, which wasn't pulling a trailer, left the roadway at about 12:20 a.m. Saturday for an unknown reason.
The tractor went over a curb, clipped a power pole and then went down an embankment and into a shallow creek.
The truck had been off the roadway for about 10 hours before a passerby noticed it and called 911 at 10:28 a.m. The engine was still running.
