SALEM -- A man with a long criminal history is now wanted in Marion County for stealing and selling barn wood, police said.

John Lee Wyngarden, 36, is wanted on an outstanding warrant for criminal mischief and has already been arrested 14 times for violent crimes, said Senior Deputy Debbie Myers of the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Myers said she believes Wyngarden has been dismantling old rural barns and selling the wood and contents for profit without the owners' permission.

Wyngarden was described as 5-foot-10, 170 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who sees Wyngarden or may be among his victims was asked to call the sheriff's office at (503) 588-5032.
