STAYTON, Ore. -- A Stayton man was arrested after police said he fired shots outside a restaurant and later pointed a gun at an officer.

Police were investigating reports of shots fired behind Rumours Restaurant on N 3rd Avenue when they spotted a man who matched the suspect’s description.

They tried to question Kenneth Rowling, Jr., nearby and that’s when police said he pointed a handgun at an Aumsville officer.

Police ordered Rowling, 33, to put down the weapon and he complied. Then he was arrested without further incident, according to Sergeant Danielle Wetzel with the Stayton Police Department.

Rowling was booked into the Marion County Correctional Facility on charges including unlawful use and display of a weapon, menacing and disorderly conduct.

No one was injured.
