SALEM, Ore. -- The Marion County sheriff's office says a 14-year-old Salem boy was wounded while playing with a gun with a 11-year-old friend.
The .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun belongs to the father of one of the boys. They were playing with it Thursday afternoon in the garage of a duplex when it fired.
The 11-year-old boy was showing the gun to his friends when it discharged, investigators said.
Jesse Arredondo, 14, was shot in his right shoulder. He was treated at the hospital with non life-threatening injuries and released.
The 11-year-old boy's father told deputies the gun is normally stored in a safe in his home and he was not aware the son was playing with the gun.
