WOODBURN -- Police shot a man who was reportedly firing rounds and pointing a shotgun at passing vehicles and at a person walking down the street early Friday, police said.
Three officers exchanged gunfire with a 20-year-old man around 9:30 p.m. outside a home in the 1100 block of 5th Street in Woodburn, said Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.
The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
None of the officers was injured during the encounter and police did not release the name of the suspect.
UPDATE: The officers involved in the shooting were identified Monday as 31-year-old Sergeant Andron Shadrin and 32-year-old Corporal Shawn Hershberger, who have both been with Woodburn police for six years, and 38-year-old Officer Thomas Courson, who has worked for Woodburn police for five years.
They were all placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation, Hastings said.
