MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – After witnessing a Facebook video of two 9-year-olds fighting, an out-of-state caller reported to police that the video looked like it was filmed in McMinnville.
Officers investigated the video and confirmed the Rain Tree apartment complex, on NE Lafayette Avenue, appeared in the background.
The video showed the boys violently assaulting each other while several adult voices encouraged them to continue.
McMinville police officers determined the boys lived at 2218 and 2220 NE Lafayette Ave. and obtained search warrants for the residences.
Officers serving the warrants found additional evidence linking the homes to the video. They were also able to determine that all four adults living in the homes were those heard in the background.
“Both residences were extremely filthy with rotten food and dirty dishes in the kitchen and inadequate edible food available for the children,” Capt. Dennis Marks said.
“Both residences had an acrid odor and debris and stains throughout the apartments,” he added. “Drug paraphernalia was seized in one of the residences.”
The children were removed from the residences with the help of DHS. They were placed with other responsible parties.
On Friday, Sara Nisenfeld (pictured, right), 31, Michael Chandler (pictured, left), 33, Jamie Garcia, 31, and Christa Williams, 22, were all lodged in the Yamhill County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
They face charges including criminal mistreatment, assault, reckless endangering, endangering the welfare of a minor, strangulation, coercion and menacing.
