NEWPORT, Ore. -- A dead man found north of Newport apparently shot himself, Oregon State Police said.
The 47-year-old from Lincoln City was discovered by a co-worker just before 9:00 a.m. Saturday, according to Lt. Gregg Hastings of the Oregon State Police.
He was found lying on the ground next to his work truck, which was parked at a large pullout near the top of Cape Foulweather.
The co-worker was passing by and had called the trucking company to report the truck's location, then he returned to check the vehicle and found Roberts.
Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
A Lincoln County deputy on-scene said he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police said the investigation was ongoing.
