SALEM, Ore. -- A 42-year-old Salem man was sentenced Monday to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges in two home invasion robberies in Marion County.

David Ray Bartol pleaded guilty to attempted murder and robbery charges for a January home invasion in Salem where a man was shot. Bartol also pleaded guilty to burglary and weapon charges for a March break-in where he held the homeowner at gunpoint.

The Statesman Journal reports Bartol was awaiting charges in connection with a fatal stabbing of a fellow inmate earlier this month in the Marion County Jail. The other inmate, Gavin Lee Siscel, was serving a 30-day sentence for contempt of court.
