ASTORIA - Columbia River Firefighters helped rescue a logger hit by a falling limb Thursday.

Columbia Co. Sheriffs said a 30-year-old Onalaska man was knocked unconscious after being hit by a limb while he was in a smaller tree next to it near Clark and Nichol Roads.

Deputies said he was wearing a helmet and that it was dented.

The victim was conscious and talking to rescue personnel while being taken to a Portland hospital with head and upper body trauma.
