GRESHAM, Ore. -- A robbery early Friday at a Gresham Park led to a SWAT team call-out and ended with a total of five arrests.
The victim, a 24-year-old Clackamas man, called 911 just after midnight and said he had been attacked and robbed by five people in Vance Park.
Several masked males and one masked female displayed guns as they punched and kicked the victim, stealing his wallet, cell phone and other items, investigators said. The victim suffered minor injuries.
Detectives think the suspects lured the man to the park under the guise that he would be meeting a man for a sexual encounter.
Lt. Claudio Grandjean said patrol officers arrested two suspects right away, but three other suspects were reportedly hiding in an apartment complex so the SWAT team was called. Officers reached one suspect by phone and he turned himself in. Two other suspects remained inside an apartment for a short time before surrendering.
Police arrested 19-year-old Justin Simms, three 16-year-old males and a 14-year-old female for robbery, assault and intimidation.
There could be more victims of a similar attack and anyone with information was asked to call Detective Scott Hogan at (503) 618-3141.
