FAIRVIEW, Ore. -- Students and parents showed their support Wednesday night for the embattled principal of Reynolds High School.
A School Board meeting to push for the reinstatement of Principal Jeff Gilbert was packed with supporters.
Last month The Oregonian newspaper reported Gilbert was on leave, amid an investigation that he misused school funds.
Those in the crowd Wednesday said he made a positive impact on campus and deserves to stay.
"But chance, no matter how uncomfortable it made his staff, is what Jeff Gilbert was hired to do,” said parent Lisa Thompson. “He was asked, accepted, and is now being condemned for doing what he was asked to do. And that's to make change."
The school board only took public comment Wednesday. A state commission could make a decision on Gilbert's future next month.
