GRESHAM, Ore. – A pedestrian was taken to the hospital with critical injuries after getting hit by a car Thursday in Gresham, police said.

Just before 1:30 p.m., a person was hit at Southeast Burnside and 197th Street while crossing in a crosswalk against the light, said Lt. Claudio Grandjean with Gresham police.

Police have not released the pedestrian’s name. Police do not think drugs, alcohol or speed were factors in the accident.

The driver is cooperating with the investigation and no citations have been filed, Grandjean said.

The accident happened on the dame day officers were conducting pedestrian safety missions.
