PORTLAND -- Following news of Whitney Heichel's murder, many, including local coffee shops, like where Whitney worked, have come forward to help her family.
Half the sales Monday from seven Portland and Gresham Dutch Bros coffee stands will be donated to family of Whitney Heichel, found murdered last week after she failed to appear for work at a Starbucks.
Other coffee shops are doing what they can to help the family, too. Among those, Real Time Roasters in Gresham donated proceeds from all of its sales on Saturday to Heichel's relatives.
Irish Bros. Coffee near 181st and Sandy, was also advertising a fundraiser Monday, for Heichel's family.
The Dutch Bros fundraising effort from seven stores raised more than $12,000, from donations and sales proceeds.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family as they try to recover from this unspeakable tragedy," said Curt Hugo, owner of a Gresham outlet. Joe Brown, a Southeast Portland store owner, personally knows the family.
