EUGENE – Kip Kinkel's rampage at Springfield's Thurston High School in 1998 is one of Oregon’s most infamous mass shootings.
KGW’s news partner, the Oregonian, reported Kinkel's attorneys are making a new effort to get his sentence reduced.
According to the newspaper, a supreme court ruling from last June is what Kinkel's attorney is hoping will help his client.
The highest court ruled that mandatory life sentences for some young boys is unconstitutional.
It's unclear how long the process will take to play out, but it will certainly take a while.
