ELMIRA, Ore. -- Four people are dead after the small plane they were in crashed near Elmira in Lane County.
According to witnesses, shortly after take off from a small airstrip, the plane began to lose altitude and then hit the tops of trees nearby.
All four were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not yet been released.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
