EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Police are warning Eugene residents to watch out for daytime burglars who knock on doors to find out if anyone is at home.
Then, they break in, put jewelry and electronics into backpacks and ride off on bikes.
Sgt. Lisa Barrong told KVAL at least three pairs of burglars have been identified, mostly in male-female teams.
Barrong says police have made arrests, but because it's a property crime and the Lane County Jail is crowded, suspects are released and back on the streets.
