EUGENE, Ore. -- Student fees at the University of Oregon will reach a record $560 a term over the new two years.

The Register-Guard reports the fees will pay for the remodeling the Student Recreation Center completed in 2000 and the pending remodel of the Erb Memorial Union. Fees will also help fund health services, student clubs, bus passes and other services.

UO students recently protested against a 5.8 percent increase in tuition proposed for the fall.

The student fees have ranged from $413 to $538 in recent years. University of Oregon's student fees and tuition both increase annually.
