ESTACADA, Ore. -- Metal thieves have been stealing the fencing that keeps rocks from falling onto Highway 224, police said.

Sometime between Oct. 14 and Oct. 24, about 20 sections of fencing were stolen from the side of the highway eight miles east of Estacada, said Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings.

"Each screen is 12-1/2 feet long and 45 inches tall, made of two inch square metal framing and chain link fencing," Hastings said.

Anyone with information about the thefts was asked to call OSP at 503-731-3020, ext. 416.
