MILWUAKIE, Ore. – Leroy Finck was thrilled Friday night after police showed up at his home with his rare 1957 Fender guitar that was stolen from his home last month.
Finck, 74, and his wife Ann were heartbroken after coming home to find their home burglarized last May. The crooks looted their home, but what Finck was most upset about was losing his Fender Telecaster guitar, recently appraised at more than $18,000.
Finck has had the guitar since he was a teenager, and said it is like a child to him.
Portland police recovered the guitar from a car with other stolen property inside just before 7 p.m. Friday at Northeast 143rd Avenue and East Burnside Street.
The investigation is ongoing, and so far, police have not made any arrests, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
