WOOD VILLAGE, Ore. -- The health advisory for Blue Lake has been lifted after water monitoring confirmed the blue-green algae found in the lake did not have high levels of toxins.

Health officials also said the algae blooms found in the lake have disappeared.

The health advisory was issued Tuesday after algae scum was found on Blue Lake, near Wood Village, Ore. Health officials advised that people and animals should avoid contact with lake water.

After water monitoring, officials determined the algae cells found in the lake were below health advisory guidelines for toxins.

Officials warned people to always be alert for signs of algae blooms and to avoid contact with water that is foamy, scummy and thick like paint.
