NEWPORT, Ore. – A Eugene man was pulled to safety by rope rescue crews near Newport after he was stranded on a cliff due to an incoming tide.
Depoe Bay Fire crews said Eric King was near Cape Foulweather, about six miles north of Newport, when the fast-moving water came in. King was left stranded on a large rock with his back up against the cliff when he called for help, News Lincoln County reported.
The Lincoln County Rope Rescue Team lowered a rescuer down the sheer cliff face nearly 100 feet to the beach and helped pull King to safety.
No one was hurt.
