LINCOLN CITY, Ore. – An SUV crashed into the Motel 6 on Highway 101 in Lincoln City Monday, knocking out power for the whole building.

Police received the call of a “vehicle into building, possible fire” just before 10:00 a.m., according to Capt. Jim Kusz, of North Lincoln Fire and Rescue.

Crews arrived to find that a Chevrolet Suburban had struck a parked car, damaged the sign for a nearby veterinary clinic and crashed through the wall of room 101 at the motel.

David Weber, of Washington, was driving. He was hospitalized without life-threatening injuries. His wife was the only other occupant of the vehicle.  She suffered no serious injuries.

The crash also “dislodged the pad mount transformer for the motel, causing the motel complete loss of power,” Kusz said.
