ASTORIA, Ore. -- A popular cafe on the corner of Marine Drive in Astoria has closed after 94 years in business.
Owners Harriet Antoniou and Gus Phillipakis told the Daily Astorian Newspaper that it was a very difficult decision but other family members did not show an interest in running the business so it was time to retire. Antoniou is 81 and Phillipakis is 83.
The cafe has been family-owned since 1916 and it's especially known for its veal cutlets, handmade pies and dressings.
The family owns the buildings, too, according to the Daily Astorian, and will probably try to sell them.
