CLATSKANIE, Ore. – Police and SWAT arrested a man in Clatskanie after a 10-hour standoff Friday, police said.
Officers said 61-year-old Cary Woodard had gone berserk during a squabble at a home and started firing a gun off in the house.
Just after 2 p.m., residents in the home near 18382 Co Op Road fled to a neighbor’s house and called 911, said Columbia County Sheriff Jeff Dickerson.
After a short struggle around midnight, Woodard was taken into custody. He was then taken to the hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening, Dickerson said.
Woodard has a prior conviction of manslaughter, Dickerson said.
