BEND, Ore. (AP) — Jefferson County sheriff's officers say the body of a missing Bend woman has been found about 200 feet down central Oregon's Crooked River canyon in what appears to have been an accidental fall.
Capt. Marc Heckathorn tells KTVZ that the body of 38-year-old Valerie McKie was found Monday after a multi-agency search.
McKie was reported missing to Deschutes County sheriff's officers on Sunday afternoon.
The Crooked River Ranch Fire Department's rope rescue team was able to recover the body.
Heckathorn says the investigation continues but the death "is believed to be the result of a tragic accident."
