GILCHRIST, Ore. – The Stagecoach wildfire, which was burning 330 acres in Southern Oregon Tuesday, was determined to be human caused.
The fire ignited near Gilchrist Monday afternoon and quickly spread. Officials said the fire was caused by two people illegally living on BLM lands who left a fire unattended.
One suspect, Kelly Parker, was arrested and charged with arson.
The wildfire, which started Monday afternoon, was still just 10 percent contained due to active fires along the fire line.
Once it ignited, the fire spread southeast toward two subdivisions. Both subdivisions were evacuated Monday evening, but the evacuation order was lifted Monday night.
More than 160 firefighters were fighting the blaze, including two hotshot crews. Officials said the night shift would continue to work overnight to try and suppress the fire.
