HILLSBORO, Ore. -- Two men were arrested for a burglary in Hillsboro Tuesday, and police said they could be connected with up to 39 burglaries in the area.

The men were taken into custody after a robbery on Inverness Drive at about 11 p.m., according to Lt. Michael Rouches of the Hillsboro Police Department.

Johnathan Gottschalk and Eli Reyes, both 18 years old, were each jailed on one count of burglary, but Rouches said they will likely be connected with the 39 recent burglaries reported in the area since July.

"It's hard to tell if they've done all or just some of those," Rouches said. "But the method of operation is the same in each of these burglaries, and they all occurred within about a half-square-mile area."

Detectives expected to release more information over the next few days as the investigation continues, Rouches said.
