HILLSBORO, Ore. -- The REI store in Northwest Hillsboro was evacuated Monday, after a small fire broke out inside the building.

A light ballast blew out around 1 p.m. and caused smoke to fill the store, according to Bruce Montgomery with the Hillsboro Fire Department.

The store was safely evacuated and no one was injured.

Montgomery said only the merchandise sustained serious damage.

The REI at The Streets is located at 2235 Northwest Allie Avenue in Hillsboro. Officials said it re-opened at 5:30 p.m., following the fire cleanup.
