BEAVERTON, Ore. – A Beaverton woman has asked the public for help finding her missing service dog.

Lucy Smelser said her service dog in training, Buddy, helps with her anxiety.

She told police the dog went off Tuesday with a homeless woman temporarily staying at their house.

Smelser said the woman thought she wanted to get rid of the dog, so she gave Buddy to some strangers. But Smelser said nothing could be further from the truth.

“All night long, my anxiety is off the chart,” she said. “I just want my dog back.”

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said there’s no crime to investigate, because the friend that took the dog thought she was carrying out the family's wishes.
