HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A motorcyclist died in a collision with a pickup truck at Cornell Road and Brookwood, according to police.

The 2003 Chevrolet pickup was northbound on Brookwood and turning left onto Cornell at a flashing yellow signal. A 2006 Buell motorcycle southbound on Brookwood, said Lt. Michael Rouches.

The truck struck the motorcycle in the intersection, Rouches said. The cause remains under investigation but it appears the truck driver did not see the motorcycle, he said.

Neither drugs, alcohol nor speeding appear to be factors, he said.

The truck driver, a 51-year-old from Aloha, was not hurt. The cyclist, a 61-year-old from the Bethany area, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet and protective gear.

The streets in either direction were closed until late morning while police investigated the wreck.
