Police: Suspect shoots man, self in St. Louis school

ST. LOUIS – Two people were shot in a downtown St. Louis school on Tuesday.

The shooting happened around 2 p.m. at the Stevens Institute of Business and Arts.

According to police, a gunman entered the school and shot a man in his late 40s in the chest. He then shot himself.

Both the suspect and victim were taken to SLU Hospital in critical condition.

According to police, SWAT units were checking the school to make sure the building was empty. Students were seen being led out of the building as well.

Authorities said the building appeared to be secure.

Several ambulances and fire trucks were on scene assisting in the emergency efforts.
