SALT LAKE CITY, Ore. – A mom in Salt Lake City wants kids all over the nation to know that most everyone has an “awkward stage” but we can all get through it, too.

With school going back into session and “Picture Day” just around the corner, Marilee Allred created a blog to show kids that there’s no need to dread their school photos.

Her blog, called “The Awkward Years Project,” encourages adults to dig up their old photos and post “before and after” pics, to show kids that life gets better.

Teens and tweens are also encouraged to look at the blog to see how all the participants grew up to become successful and much less awkward looking adults.

Allred said it’s not about boasting about your looks, it’s about showing teens they're great people in the making.
