A California Highway Patrol officer reportedly rescued a Chihuahua on Friday from the median of Interstate 680, and the photo of the rescue has gone viral.

The officer used a protein bar to coax the Chihuahua toward him, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

The dog has since been taken to an animal shelter, and there have been several adoption offers from the public.

A CHP officer told the Mercury News that it's likely someone left the Chihuahua on the freeway. The CHP Contra Costa Twitter account shared a photo of the officer with the dog Friday night.
