The parents of Susan Cox Powell said in a 2012 interview they felt she would still be alive if she had left her husband earlier.

Josh Powell was suspected of killing Susan, who vanished from Utah in 2009, but was never charged. He killed himself and his two sons in February, 2012.

“The bottom line is, she stayed too long,’’ Susan’s father, Chuck Cox, told NBC's TODAY. “We knew they had trouble, and she thought she could handle it, and she stayed too long.’’
