PORTLAND -- Burglars broke into three adjacent businesses at a Southwest Portland strip mall and stole money from one of them Friday morning, police said.
A passing officer was flagged down just after 6 a.m. by an employee who said a dry cleaning business had been broken into near Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Huber Street, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.
Officers at the scene said the suspects broke the door of one business and punched a hole through the wall to enter another. They then entered a third business through an open door, and employees there said the suspects stole some cash.
There was also evidence the thieves tried to enter a fourth business, Simpson said. The suspects were not located. Police were working to obtain surveillance video.
