SALEM – Two men were shot in their vehicle by another car in Salem Saturday evening, deputies said.

Marco Vargas, 18, and Carlos Saucedo, 18, both of Salem, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Don Thomson with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

It all started just after 6:30 p.m., when Vargas and Saucedo were driving on Lancaster Drive SE near Durbin Avenue SE. They got into an altercation with two men in an older model white Buick, Thomson said.

That’s when one of the men in the Buick opened fire on Vargas and Saucedo, hitting them both. The driver of the Buick was described as a medium to big build whiter or Hispanic man, around 17 to 20 years old with black hair, wearing a black and gray hat with “SOX” on the front.

The passenger was described similarly. He was wearing a black T-shirt with black and gray had with a white “B” on the front.

Anyone with information of the shooting can leave an anonymous tip at 503-540-8079.
