PORTLAND -- An Oregon lawmaker has ordered a performance audit of TriMet to be completed by the end of the year.

“Questions have been raised about TriMet’s finances, operations, and transparency,” said Representative Chris Gorsek (D-Troutdale). “These questions deserve answers and the audit by the Secretary of State will provide answers.”

Gorsek added the audit as an amendment to House Bill 3316, which calls for TriMet operations to be taken over by Metro.

The Oregon Secretary of State's office plans to have the audit finished before the 2014 legislative session, according to spokesman Tony Green.

Gorsek said the audit "will provide riders, advocates, and the legislature with needed information" before moving forward with the bill.
