SALEM -- A suspect has been arrested in connection with a deadly crash outside the Lucky Fortune restaurant in Salem last week, police said.

Brandon Paine-Smith, 26 (pictured, above left), was arrested early Wednesday morning in connection with the crash that killed the restaurant's owner, 68-year-old Kow Cheung-Lin, said Salem Police Lt. Steve Birr.

Police said a fight had broken out at the restaurant on February 14, which then spilled into the parking lot. Cheung-Lin and her son, 37-year-old Tom Cheung, were then hit by a car and were both rushed to a nearby hospital. Cheung-Lin was later pronounced dead.

The suspects left the scene. Police did not find the second suspect, 20-year-old Kayla Holden (pictured, above right).

Paine-Smith was jailed on charges of manslaughter, assault, hit-and-run, and a parole violation. A woman in the house where he had been staying was charged with hindering prosecution.

Anyone with information about the crime was asked to call Salem police at (503) 588-6050.
