Firefighters scramble to fires in Molalla, Forest Grove

MOLALLA, Ore. -- Firefighters scrambled to fires in Forest Grove and Molalla Friday evening.

A series of explosions at a Molalla concrete plant had flames spreading fast. The fire broke out on Southeast Porter Road at around 5:30 p.m.

One tanker exploded and spread the fire to welding tanks, which also blew up. The fire then moved to a shed, a house and a yard.

Firefighters had the fire contained Friday .

In Forest Grove, one firefighter went to the hospital after a fire quickly spread at a home on 22nd Place.

The fire started in the home’s attic around 4:30 p.m. The firefighter was hurt when a piece of sheetrock fell on him while firefighters were venting the house.

The injured firefighter was resting at home Friday night.
