TROUTDALE – A man and a woman survived a dangerous situation late Thursday night when the SUV they were in crashed and rolled 75 feet down an embankment before landing right-side up.
Firefighters said the SUV crashed around midnight Thursday on Kerslake Road, in Troutdale.
The man and woman were trapped inside the SUV. The male passenger was able to get cell phone service and call 911.
A rescue team extracted the couple and officials said they were expected to make a full recovery.
The driver, 42-year-old Denise Sumpter of Gresham, was cited for DUII and assault.
Firefighters said the stretch of road had sharp curves and was slippery from rainfall. They urged drivers to slow down when driving on wet roads.
