OREGON CITY, Ore. -- A Clackamas County deputy was arrested Thursday for menacing and unlawful use of a weapon, police said.
Corrections deputy Shawn Heikkila was accused of domestic violence in November 2012, said spokesman Sgt. Robert Wurpes. Heikkila was immediately placed on administrative leave while the sheriff's office and Clackamas County District Attorney's Office investigated the allegations.
Thursday he was jailed for unlawful use of a weapon and menacing charges related to the domestic violence incident, Wurpes said.
"The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office maintains a zero-tolerance policy with regard to employee-involved domestic violence," he added.
Heikkila remains on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues, Wurpes said.
Heikkila was hired by the CCSO in 2008.
