PORTLAND -- Ninety-degree temperatures are in the Portland forecast for the first time in 2013.

Weather charts show hot weather this coming Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  As July approaches, it should come as no surprise that hot weather is in the 7-day forecast. Portland averages 13 days each year with temperatures of 90 degrees or hotter.

Here is a list of the first 90 degree days over the past 10 years:

Year      1st 90-degree day        # of 90-degree days

2003           June 4                                 22

2004           June 17                               12

2005            May 27                                15

2006            May 15                                21

2007            May 30                                 9

2008            May 16                                15

2009            June 3                                24 (all time record)

2010            July 7                                 11

2011            Aug. 20                               7

2012            Aug.   4                                 11 days

All years above the average number of 13 90-degree days saw their first hot day before June 10th.  If this summer follows the pattern of the last 10 years, PDX will likely see 12 or less 90-degree or hotter days this summer.
