CORVALLIS, Ore. - A Subway sandwich shop in Corvallis was struck by an armed robber Sunday, and police are looking for the perpetrator.
At about 8:55 pm, Corvallis Police Officers and the Benton County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of an armed robbery at the Subway located at 2350 N.W. 9th Street.
Officers learned the business had been robbed by a man armed with a handgun.
He entered the store from the N.W. 9th Street entrance and confronted an employee, who immediately ran to the back room of the business. The suspect then fled the business through the north exit side door.
Two employees in the business during the incident were unharmed. There were no customers in the store at the time of the incident.
The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his thirties. He is between 5'11" and 6'2" feet tall with a thin to medium build and strawberry blonde hair.
He reportedly wore a hooded sweatshirt underneath a long black jacket with a collar, a white baseball cap, sunglasses, blue jeans, black shoes with white soles, purple food-handler gloves (latex-style) and a blue bandana over his face.
The man displayed a black semi-automatic handgun during the robbery.
An eyewitness observed the suspect fleeing the area. The eyewitness observed the suspect remove the long black coat and described him as wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with a "mossy oak" type logo on the back, while carrying the long black jacket in his arms.
Corvallis Police Officers and Benton County Sheriff's Office Deputies searched the area with the assistance from a K-9 team from the Albany Police Department, but were unable to locate the suspect.
